All Your Base Are Belong To UsUnless you've been hiding under a rock for the last year or two, you've probably heard or seen references to the phrase "all your base are belong to us." But what does it mean? Apparently, it all started in a Sega Genesis home video game released in the 1990's. The game's intro was poorly translated from Japanese to English and contains several grammatical errors, including the afore-mentioned sentence "All your base are belong to us." For whatever reason, pop culture en masse picked up on the goof and started incorporating it into fake billboards, signs, and photos. This website explores the origins of the phrase, most of which I've already explained here. The best part of the site, though, is a collection of over 36 of the best uses of the phrase, including a mock Time magazine cover. All your base are belong to us, indeed.
