Freakies

If you were a kid in the 70's, you'll probably remember enjoying the sugary delights of Freakies cereal. Actually, the cereal wasn't that great, but the commercials and toy prizes were what got you hooked - or at least that's what happened in my case. Original Freakies' creator Jackie End has revived the characters (if not the cereal) at her website, where you can read bios on each of the Freakies, hear the original theme song, order a video of the 70's television ads, and buy official t-shirts. About the only thing you won't find here is a substitute for that original sugar high, but hearing the Freakies belt out their theme song is close.

actually freakies cereal carried into the '80s as well. After I first begged my mother for them I realized that they didn't live up to how good I though they would be, but then they totally grew on me and I would get them all the time!
my buddy Jimmy came from a dirt-poor family and his most treasured thing in life was his Freakies collection. it was amazing he was able to amass the set, given the cost of name-brand cereal goodness plus there were three other kids in the house. Jimmy was one of those kids that would eat dog food for a dollar LOL! we had great fun watching him munch dog sample packs of dry Solo dog food that came in the mail. 1976 was a good year.
I loved freakies and have never found anyone else who remembered it before now! I can still remember parts of the jingle "We are the freakies, yes we are the freakies and this is our freakies tree...you'll love our cereal" something something something something.
